Installation Instructions
INSTRUCTIONS FOR UNIVERSAL MOUNT
1. Remove the O.E.M. (Original Equipment Manufacturer) bolts from the fender bracket or other dual bolt location. Our kits are supplied with 3/8 - 16 x 1.5 or 2.0 inch bolts unless otherwise specified at time of order.
2. Insert spacers if required. These are usually used to take up the space from the original hex head bolts. Most applications, such as Harley Factroy Equipment do not require these spacers. The application in the photo is my 03 Softail with the Heartland Sales Wide Kit.
3. Adjust the Anti Pivot Plate to the desired height and pitch. The Anti pivot Plate can mount with the ears below the mount bracket for lower holster mounting or with the ear through the open slot of the mount bracket for higher mounting options.
4. Hand tighten the security nut on the backside of the holster system to hold the height and pitch you desire. Please note that we do not issue the security attachment for these nuts for your security. The lock washer should hold the security nut in place during final tightening
.
5. Position the Holster Assembly on the bike, insert and tighten the supplied security mounting bolts into the fender bracket holes, or whereever your diual bolt pattern is. The appropriate order to place the parts is as follows from the fender out. You may want to use Loctite 270 or 2760 for the bolts however as added security but you will have to use some heat to disasseble the system.
A. Bike Fender (or other dual bolt location)
B. Spacer (if required)
C. O-rings
D. Mount Bracket
E. Washers
F. Security Bolts
6. Re-adjust for height and pitch desired for your holster. While holding it in place, insert the supplied keyed bit down through the holster into the end of the Pivot Bolt head. This sometimes almost requires three hands and several curse words may be necassary as you tighten the assembly.
7. Hold the security nut on the backside of the holster while you tighten the security bit through the inside of the holster with the correct wrench. The lock washer usually grabs the security nut during this process and allows you to tighten the final strokes using both hands on the wrench. This needs to be tioght to keep the holster in place and keep it from rotating at all. If the security nut is giving you a bad time you can get enough grip on it with pliers or channel locks to complete the tightening process. You will not be able to take it apart with plies or channel locks after it is tight. You may also consider some Loctite in this application as well.
NOTE: Remeber to write down the number on the security bolt bit as well as the number on the keys supplied for the holster. We do not keep information op these and it will make for a much easier replacement in the future should you lose either of them.
8. The Kydex holsters have adjustment screws on the lower side of the holster, tighten for a tighter fit and vice-cersa. Do not leave them too loose or they will work theri way out.
9. Some holsters will initially have a tight fit and require a bit of a breaking in period. Use your UNLOADED firearm and work it in and out of the holster assembly while adjusting the screws on the lower side of the holster. It is normal to see some Kydex shavings come loose during the break in period.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLE BAR MOUNT
1. Remove the two most forward O.E.M. bolts from your handle bar mount.
2. Place O-rings on the handle bar mount.
3. Position the Holster System on top of the Handle bar mount and insert security bolts and tighten. You may consier using the Loctice 260 or 2760 but you will have to use heat to disassemble it .
4. Follow instructions 3-8 of the Universal Mounting Instructions.
1.Use Loctite 260 or 2760 on threaded surfaces, be aware that you will have to apply heat to release them should you need to dis-assemble the system in the future.
2. Try to position the Holster in front of the mount bolts making it very difficult for anyone to use any type of tools on the mounting bolts.
3. Peen over the inner stud on the security bolts once it is mounted and tight, this is obviously for a more permanent type application because you will play hell trying to get it off if you ever dis-assemble it.
4. Keep an eye on your bike. This system provides for a general security application. Dont leave your firearm in the holster outside overnite or for extended periods of time, NOTHING is 100% theft proof.
